Have your say on food and fibre production in the Great South Coast

Industry leaders, businesses, farmers and residents across south west Victoria are being invited to have their say on the draft Great South Coast Food and Fibre Action Plan.

Four forums will be held across the Great South Coast region during July to give anyone involved in food and fibre production the opportunity to submit feedback and suggestions on the draft plan.

Great South Coast Group Chair Cr Colin Ryan said the group was keen to see as many people as possible attend the forums, held in Colac, Portland, Warrnambool and Hamilton.

"The forums will be taken by project consultants Catherine Wall and David McKinna from McKINNA et al, who will present the top-line findings from their research across the region," Cr Ryan said.

"Catherine and David will highlight the burning issues impacting food and fibre producers in the Great South Coast and outline how these have been responded to in the draft strategy."

At the forums, the rationale behind each proposed strategy platform will be explained and examples given of the types of actions that will be included in the final plan, and attendees will be given the chance to make suggestions for actions.

"After the presentation there will also be an opportunity for further informal discussions with the consultants and project steering committee members over coffee," Cr Ryan said.

The Great South Coast Food and Fibre Action Plan forums will be held in:

• Colac – Tuesday July 21st from 2-4pm at COPACC, Rae Street.

• Portland – Wednesday July 22nd from 9.30am-11.30am at Glenelg Libraries, Bentinck Street.

• Warrnambool – Wednesday July 22 from 2-4pm at South West TAFE in Timor Street.
