About
What a great community we live in!
The Great South Coast website is a joint initiative of the Great South Coast Christian Churches working together as one. It has been created to help residents build new community connections.
This website aims to communicate stories, community information and events that we value collectively. We hope that this website may further foster the neighbourliness, generosity and hospitality that we all so cherish across the Great South Coast.
When we think of the Great South Coast of the Fleurieu, we’re thinking of the Southern Fleurieu region—stretching from Normanville and Yankalilla through to Victor Harbor, Port Elliot, Mount Compass, Middleton, Goolwa and everywhere in between!
There are some families in our community who have lived here for many generations. Their stories are sacred and special. But the majority of us have in some way felt ‘called’ to come here. We all have our own unique stories of how we came to live here.
However you came to live in this region, we trust that as you engage with the information shared on this website and as you engage in community, you too will grow to value our vibrant community life and discover that your best future starts here on the Fleurieu.
Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge that the land on which we live was first entrusted to the Ramindjeri, Ngarrindjeri and Kaurna People who have lived in this region and cared for it since before recorded time. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging as we live together on the Great South Coast of the Fleurieu.
