Busy Little Playgroup
Since 2011, Bayside Church International in Hindmarsh Valley has hosted Busy Bugs, a playgroup designed to help toddlers and preschoolers develop their gross motor skills.
Busy Bugs is run by Victor Harbor-based accredited exercise physiologist and mother of three, Veronica Mansbridge, also known as ‘Ronnie’.
“Our vision is to provide a safe place for little ones to develop and have fun in a social setting,” Veronica said.

“For me, the most rewarding part is watching the little ones learn to enjoy movement. Early experiences of joyful movement can be one of the most important indicators of health and wellbeing in later years.”
Veronica said, “Exercising should be enjoyable, not a chore. “The earlier you find enjoyable exercise in life, the better your long-term exercise habits will be. Active kids are happy kids. My kids are definitely happiest when they’re moving.”
At each session, Busy Bugs has a different theme, based on development of gross motor skills, which includes jumping, climbing and balancing.
“Kids get to experience success in movement too and they grow in their confidence as they learn new skills,” Veronica said.
The two-hour time slots run fortnightly on alternate Fridays during the school term for $5 per family. Busy Bugs is a relaxed and friendly environment for kids to learn and develop in while they have fun in the process.
When Veronica isn’t running Busy Bugs or looking after her children, you’ll find her at Bayside Church International running the Superkids children’s ministry, along with her husband Guy, on a Sunday.
